HOW TO STRUCTURE YOUR MAID OF HONOR SPEECH IN 3 EASY STEPS

Bride and Maid of Honor looking lovingly at each other.

Hey, friend!

Tell me if this is you…⁣

You’re a Maid of Honor who has tons of great stories about the Bride, but zero idea which one(s) to pick for your wedding speech.

Deep breaths! ⁣

I got you covered.

Here’s how you can structure your MOH Speech in 3 EASY STEPS.⁣

STEP 1.) BRAINSTORM YOUR FAVORITE MEMORIES WITH THE BRIDE

Let’s examine a MOH Speech I worked on back in 2021.⁣

MOH: Lindsey⁣

Bride: Michelle⁣

Lindsey was overwhelmed because she knew Michelle since elementary school, so obviously she had a lot of memories to sort through!

It’s normal to feel stuck when writing a speech, but the way to get unstuck is by brainstorming.

Set some time aside to write everything down—the good times and the hard times.

After brainstorming, we move onto Step 2!

STEP 2.) IDENTIFY A THEME

World map with a passport, pins, and sunglasses on it.

As Lindsey and I sorted through all her memories with Michelle, I noticed something cool—they loved traveling the globe together!

Theme: Adventure

From a storytelling perspective, however, I was most interested in their trip to Thailand.⁣

Not because everything went according to plan.⁣

Rather…⁣

Because everything went wrong, yet they still had a blast!⁣

STEP 3.) WHY WILL SHE MAKE A GREAT WIFE⁣

Husband and wife traveling together.

I asked Lindsey to dig a little deeper.

What went wrong during the trip?⁣

Lindsey told me they went scuba diving, which sounds so cool and adventurous, right?

Well, not exactly, but shortly afterwards a nasty storm hit. ⁣

I then asked Lindsey, “Why did Michelle still make it fun?⁣”

Lindsey answered, “Because of her positive attitude!” ⁣

Even when the sh*t hits the fan, Michelle still finds joy in whatever situation she is in!⁣

So…⁣

To conclude Lindsey’s Maid of Honor Speech and connect it to Michelle’s marriage…⁣

Here is what we wrote (specifically addressing the Groom):

“We all know life is hard, but just know that when the storms come and the waves crash overhead, Michelle will be right by your side, reminding you to just keep swimming.”⁣

I hope you found this helpful!
